For the past several years, the original location of Little Donkey Mexican Restaurant in the lovely neighborhood of Homewood, AL has been an oasis offering fantastic food and gracious service in a lively location. Little Donkey has grown to include a location just outside of Birmingham, on Highway 280 in the Greystone neighborhood and a Montgomery, AL outpost. Our dining rooms are bustling with energy and our bright and breezy patios offer outdoor dining options. Each day fresh salsas are made, meats are stewed and smoked, seasonal vegetables cared for and cooked to be served with our tortillas that are made from scratch throughout the day. That means that we make flour tortilla dough and soak and grind corn for masa that we form into tortillas by hand and cook on the hot comal (iron pan) in our kitchen. The bar features a robust craft cocktail menu as well as classics where we feature local beer, wine, cold, bottled Topo Chico, soft drinks and house-made horchata and Jamaica (hibiscus)—something for everyone!
 

Job Summary

The purpose of this job is to greet and serve our guests enthusiastically. The Host’s role is to provide “Guest First” service at all times, making the Guest the heart and passion of what they do. This includes friendly and timely interaction with Guests and other employees, welcoming guests, seating guests, answering questions, following up to ensure each Guest’s needs are met in a friendly manner and encouraging Guests to return. Every Guest is made to feel welcome at all times.
 

Responsibilities

  1. Ensure all guests receive 100% customer service.
  2. Be nice, warm, friendly, caring and helpful.
  3. Address every guest as they arrive and depart including opening the door.
  4. Handle all phone calls that come into the restaurant with a friendly voice.
  5. Take control of lost and found, information and returns.
  6. Emergency information.
  7. Communicateswithguestdemonstratingconfidenceandencouragesthemtofeeluniqueandspecial.
  8. Maintains cleanliness of workstations during working hours and perform weekly maintenance.
  9. To quote accurate waiting times for tables and notify guests of any discrepancies.
  10. Capable of answering phones and placing to-go orders.
