Pihakis Restaurant Group is made up of restaurants that celebrate great food, born from regional traditions, in approachable and fun spaces. A collective of businesses, started by real people, created to pass from generation to generation.
Nick Pihakis started working in restaurants in 1979. A position as a bartender in Birmingham at age 19 gave him access to the world around him—a world of faces, stories and a view into the business of restaurants and the many things that means. The flame was ignited, and Nick’s dream was to own a restaurant. He opened his first restaurant, Jim ‘N Nick’s BBQ with his father, Jim in 1985—a restaurant that grew to over 30 locations in 7 states. Years of experience, experiments, partnerships, investments, travel, and curiosity have been the building blocks that created the strong foundation for what has become Pihakis Restaurant Group—a family of restaurants started by a family, for families.
The Pihakis family including Nick’s wife and children have all played various roles in the restaurants over the years and are now partners within the PRG, but Nick’s professional family is a blended one—filled with colleagues that are enthusiastic participants who are at the top of their game and considered a vital part of this generational business.
PRG restaurants that include Hero Doughnuts and Buns, Hot Dog Pete’s, Little Donkey Mexican Restaurant, Luca, Rodney Scott’s BBQ, and Tasty Town Greek Restaurant and Lounge are all part of the PRG family tree. Our restaurants are filled with operating partners, managers, chefs, kitchen staff, bartenders, and dining room personnel who collectively have years of experience and are eager to train the next generation of team members to carry on our traditions. The Pihakis Restaurant Management Group provides support in tech, financial, media, design, retail, purchasing, management, and human resources with a team of experts in the various fields essential for our company's success.
